Maria Fernanda Rivera is a Colombian-born, multidisciplinary artist. With a focus on painting, interdisciplinary observational studies and a growing interest in comparative naturalism, Rivera’s body of work can be seen as an interpretive field notebook. Through it, she documents a dialogue between personal experience and the natural world. Each work is a curious investigation of subtle interactions, often in nature, and an inquiry into how the instant relates to her own ever-shifting sense and understanding of family, heritage, history and place. Rivera has a BFA from Hunter College.
